Pathfinder - The Inner Sea

A Stirge Named Applesauce

  • Out of sea cave, off to find sheid generator
    • Travel to the closest highest ground to search for the nearest city, town or settlement
    • Head off to the only one within sight
    • On the way to the settlement, the team notice tree stumps lining the path, each one apparently spewing pollen or seeds of somekind into the air. Not knowing the status of the pollen, some of the group cover they faces with rags to prevent inhalation
  • While on the road near the settlement, a young boy's voice is heard to yell out, "Applesauce!"
    • Shortly after, a single stirge emerges from the shrubery and flies towards the group
    • Varris pops off an arrow and hits it in the wing, wounding the creature
    • From the shrubery, a young boy emerges and calls out for Applesauce. The group quickly deduce the stirge is Applesauce, most likely the boy's pet.
    • Not wanting to start of on bad terms, Keldar prevents the stirge from acting and quickly takes the creature to the boy, hoping to smooth things over.
    • The boy, Gorin, is appreciative and invites the group to his town of Ravenmore, recommends they talk to his father Victor
    • Keldar & Jodo venture forth in search of the mayor. Varris & Harland together walk the town to wait for Keldar & Jodo while Xu Kai dissappears into the crowd, adding to Varris' suspicions about his true intentions
    • After talking to Victor, Keldar & Jodo search for the town mayor but are unsuccessful
    • While roaming the town, the townsfolk dont' seem to mind the groups presence despite obviously being foriegners. Also, they are all humans and don't seem to notice or care about the 2 dwarves and 1 visible elf.
    • Also, all of the townsfolk are all peculiarly happy, all chipping in, decorating the town for the Founders Festival starting that evening
    • The mayor is found in the town square and essentially gives no useful answers, except for pointing out the fort in not too distant hills. Suspicions arise when the mayor is coy not very forthcoming about the fort. When the mayor is asked about the spores, he becomes a defensive & changes the subject, a little out of character but otherwise still very helpful
    • Waiting outside of town, Varris sees and is charmed by a Willow, a forrest nymph. Willow mentions that the shield is a shield for undead. Willow soon runs away after she discovers they are not the "Thora" [?]
  • Whlie tracking Willow, the group discover a cave temple in the forrest, close to a lake.
to be continued….

Under the Sea

After saving the life of the princess and the passengers of the Coal Tongue, they are now heroes in the eyes of the public. While Keldar & Harland party hardy with the locals, Jodo turns in early while Varris, not being a city slicker, sought shelter away from the commotion in an environement more fitting for a ranger. While looking for a place to rest, he notice he is being followed. After confronting the stalker, Varris is informed their presence is requested, by Lilly, at an inquiry regarding the events that led up to the Coal Tongue explosion.

The next morning, the group noticies that Xu Kai is completely healed, showing no signs of injuries despite taking a few good hits the night before. Suspicions are rising between Xu Kai and the group, but none more vocal than Varris. Jodo, as per his personality, kept his thoughts & opinions to himself.

At the inquiry, which started more like an inquisition, was swift. Each person was questioned individually, a common theme being "what happened to the person in the doorway?"

At the end of the inquiry, the group's account of the events cofirms the council's suspicion of the Duchess. As such, the adventurers are requested to go and find the Duchess to [Axis Island] where she is believed to be hiding out. The island, though, is surrounded by a powerful spell shield that prevents any passage to it, immediately setting a fire anything that breeches the spell shield. The plan is to anchor just beyond the shield but still within sight of the island as both a sign of "we know what you did" and as way to for the adventurers to lead a small insertion team to the island… underwater. A known cave is the insertion point. Once on the island, the plan is for the insertion team disable the spell shield so the armies of [Taldor] can invade the island and take vengeance on the Duchess.

Now walking under water (think Pirates of the Caribbean), the adventurers are the only survivors of an underwater avalanche, leaving the rest of the insertion team under the rubble.

After a few bad swim check rolls, the adventurers finally make it to the cave. Once in, a glowing orb emerges from the center of the room, expanding fairly rapidly. After the orb engulfs most of the adventurers (Varris was able to swim just out of reach of the orb), the group is given a vision, from the perspective of a rider of a gold dragon.

[Add vision details here]

At the end of the vision, the group carries on in the cave and inadvertently trigger a trap that activates 3 elementals, one of air, one of earth and one of shadow.

The elementals are defeated but at a high cost. Harland was fatally injured but through some nimble heal checks, he was stabilized but is in dire need of rest and healing. Xu Kai, on the otherhand, appears to be uninjured despite how the battle played out. Clearly, Xu Kai is keeping a secret, which only further deepens the suspicions of the group, especially Varris.

On the road again...
in the beginning

A simple/concise bullet point version of our start, a "this is what I remember" version. The names, race & class are listed for our benefit and do not necessarily indicate any shared knowledge between the players. Some may be obvious (i.e. the dwarves Keldar & Harland) and others less so (the elf/dwarf Xu Kai). I hope future posts will be more story-like and less lazy-like. You are welcome (encouraged) to fill in the blanks and/or make corrections as needed.

  • Keldar, dwarf oracle (Aaron) and [PC name] a [race] monk (Kendall) were on a pilgrimage to [major city]
  • [PC name], a [race] ranger (Jeff), was tracking a boar to hunt
  • From over the horizon behind the pilgrims, an unusual sight: a boar being chased by a dwarf riding another boar
  • As the rider, a dwarf cavalier and his boar, barrel through the travellers, the 2 comrades follow the unusual sight into the woods with the ranger stealthily following behind
  • A travelling and their bodyguard, Xu Kai Xiang, an elf/dwarf magus(?) is discovered but their wagon and horse have fallen into a river due to a collapsed bridge
  • Some of the travellers help retrieve the wagon and horse
  • … something something …
  • [on boat that explodes]
Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
